Superintendent
Howdy, I’m Shannon Knapp and I’m extremely honored to be able to lead Durand Area Schools in the upcoming years. I have been in Durand Schools my entire educational career except my college years and my Railroader Pride runs deep. I started kindergarten at Bertha Neal, I then went to South Side (it was an elementary building we had on Oak St. in Durand) for 1st and 2nd grades, then back to Bertha Neal once South Side closed. From Bertha Neal, I went onto Arthur Lucas Jr High and then graduated from Durand High School. I went off to college and earned my bachelor’s in education and then my masters in Ed Leadership.
I wanted to follow in the footsteps of the teachers and leaders I had going through Bertha Neal, South Side, Arthur Lucas, and Durand High School. Former DHS Teacher, the late Ms. Barb Bradley was the most influential to me as a student. I wanted to be just like her and that is what drove me into education. I’ve learned from several great Railroaders before me. The late Al Rowe, Lloyd Lamphere, Jan Harper, and Barb Bradley have all had a profound impact on me. I was once their student, then their protege, and most importantly their colleague and friend.
I hope to have the same level of positive impact on our students and staff that those before me have had on me here in Railroader Country. Again, I’m so very honored to be a part of this district and will continue to work extremely hard to make Durand Schools a great place to learn and work.
